Bomb Found In Colorado Springs Neighborhood Investigated

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado Springs police are continuing their investigation of a homemade bomb made with commercial fireworks that was found just blocks from a park and an elementary school.

Police say someone spotted the device just before 10 a.m. Sunday. According to a police report, a bomb squad disarmed the device without having to detonate it.

Police Sgt. Chris Areseneau says the bomb could have caused a lot of damage and would have hurt anyone nearby if it had exploded.

Investigators are hoping to pull fingerprints from the device to help identify a suspect.
