Trail Date Set For Man Accused Of Killing Auto Repair Shop Employee

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) — A judge has set a May 13 trial date for a man accused of fatally shooting a woman at a vehicle repair shop in Broomfield.

The Broomfield Enterprise reports District Judge Patrick Murphy decided Friday to call 75 potential jurors, saying the large pool is needed to seat an unbiased jury in a high-profile case.

Lawrence Crouch has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the Oct. 12 death of 56-year-old Mary McGrath, who worked at the shop.

Police say he told them he wanted to kill McGrath because he thought she took advantage of the shop's owner. Court records say Crouch also planned to kill himself and an employee at the Lakewood motel where he was living by using a makeshift bomb and burning the building down.
