New Grand Junction Councilman Accused Of Assault On Girlfriend

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) – A newly-elected city councilman in Grand Junction has been arrested.

Rick Brainard, 51, was taken into custody Saturday morning after allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend.

Brainard was just elected to the council on Tuesday night.

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported the woman claimed she was pinned behind a dresser after calling Brainard a liar and a cheat. He is being held without bond.
