FBI Investigating Laser-Into-Cockpit Incident Near Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) - The FBI is investigating reports that someone aimed a laser pointer from the ground into the cockpit of a Frontier Airlines plane.

The incident happened last Friday night while the Airbus A-319 was flying over Palisade near Grand Junction.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the crew saw a green laser that illuminated the entire cockpit. The FBI says incidents are common around Denver International Airport but rare in Western Colorado.

Laser pointers can be distracting and in some cases pilots have suffered temporary blindness.
