State Workers Raise Money For Murder Victim’s Family
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — State employees are raising money for the family of Nathan Leon. The pizza deliveryman was killed last month in an attack authorities believe is connected to the murder of Department of Corrections chief Tom Clements.
A corrections department spokeswoman says Clements’ wife, Lisa, started the fund in honor of her husband. He was shot and killed on their doorstep.
Leon was killed two days before Clements after answering a call for a pizza at a Denver truck stop. He had three children.
Evan Ebel, the suspect in the case, was killed in a shootout with Texas deputies. His motive in the killings isn’t clear.
State agencies are collecting donations from workers, and a raffle is being planned for mid-April to generate more money.
