Hiker Finds Human Remains In Jefferson County
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities in Jefferson County say human remains found by a hiker on Monday evening were likely there for a long time.
The skeletal remains were found in a ravine in the Hogback area west of C-470 and west of Bowles Avenue, and so far it's not clear if they were the remains of a man or a woman.
The hiker made the discovery at approximately 5:30 a.m. That person wasn't on a trail. Officials said they were hiking through a remote area.
Investigators with the Jefferson County Sheriff's department are searching through the area for additional evidence. They are calling the case suspicious and so far there is no official cause of death.
Police in Wheat Ridge said the remains are not that of missing woman Leann "Annie" Meyer. (Related Stories)
