Arrrest Made After Woman Is Found Dead In Centennial

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - An arrest was made Tuesday after a woman in her 80s was found dead in Centennial.

The victim was discovered in the morning in an apartment near East Dry Creek Road and Yosemite Street.

Shortly after that, police issued a bulletin with a description of the suspect and a car and an arrest was made at a park in Douglas County.

So far it's not clear what the connection between the suspect and the victim might have been, but police are saying the crime was not random.

Police asked that CBS4 not report the name of the victim until family members have been notified of the death, but neighbors of the victim said they are stunned by the news.

Michael Bramblett said the woman walked with a cane and was friendly with everyone.

"A couple of weeks after I moved here I was grilling outside. She walked up and sat on my patio bench and started chatting away. She was a very nice lady," Bramblett said.

Henrietta Robinson agreed.

"She was just a pleasant woman all round. She would stop and talk to everyone. She was just a neat lady," she said.

Several neighbors hinted that the killer may have been a relative. The sheriff's office would not comment that.
