DENVER (CBS4) – Music fans likely haven’t heard of singer-songwriter Michelle Shocked unless they were into alternative folk music in the early 1990s. But she’s really making headlines this week for what she said during a show in San Francisco.
The first set at Yoshi’s in San Francisco had gone just fine. Shocked sang old favorites for an appreciative folk rock crowd. Then, after a short break, she returned to the stage and the show went off the rails.
Shocked made news for making comments on the stage that reportedly included, ‘When they stop California’s Prop. 8 and force priests at gunpoint to marry gays it will be the downfall of civilization and Jesus will come back.”
