Missing Woman’s Roommate Takes Lie Detector Test

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) – The roommate of a missing Wheat Ridge woman has hired an attorney and taken a lie detector test.

Melissa Miller has avoided police when it comes to the case of her missing roommate, Leann “Annie” Meyer, who was last seen more than a month ago.

Both vehicles that belonged to a Meyer, 52, have been found, but there’s still no sign of Meyer.

Police say the last time Meyer had a confirmed contact with anyone was Feb. 10. There was one phone call and a number of text messages from her phone after that, but investigators said they aren’t sure it was actually Meyer who was sending them.

Miller’s father, Fred Trounce, said his daughter would never hurt Meyer and is upset about her disappearance.

“She’s been crying. Just a temperamental girl. She’s upset. Her and Annie were good friends,” said Trounce. “Melissa is a good girl. She’s been a good girl all her life.”

Trounce said Miller took a lie detector test Thursday afternoon at the request of her lawyer, not police.

On Thursday Wheat Ridge Police said they located the SUV that belongs to Meyer, a day after they announced that Meyer’s pickup truck was also located.

The pickup truck was found in a parking lot in the area of West 72nd Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard and the SUV was found in the 3700 block of Marshall Street.

Police said they were led to both vehicles thanks to tips from the public. Both cars have been taken into police storage and are being searched for possible evidence in the case.

Her family believes news that both of Meyer’s trucks have been found could help police locate her.

“I’m relieved. I’m so glad we found something. To have nothing is nothing,” said Meyer’s brother Mark Meyer. “We’re a desperate family wanting to find our sister.”

Police have searched Meyer’s home twice and said this week they still have many people to talk to besides Miller. Some of Meyer’s family members are in town and plan to help investigators with the search. Friends have also been involved in the search for Meyer, and plan to do another organized effort to spread the word about her disappearance this Saturday.

Crime Stoppers and US Bank together are offering a reward of $10,000 for information that leads to the location of Meyers.

Meyer is described as being 5-foot-7, 130 pounds with blue eyes and brown/grey hair.
