Roommate Of Missing Woman Remains Silent, Hires Attorney

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Friends and family members of a missing Wheat Ridge woman are rallying to find clues about her disappearance, but that group doesn't include the woman's roommate.

Leann "Annie" Meyer has not been heard from since Feb. 23. She was last heard from when she was on a phone call with her friend. Sunday marked the third weekend in a row that Meyer didn't call her mother, something she always did on Sundays.

"None of it makes any sense, because that's not Annie. Annie wouldn't just disappear," Meyer's friend Colleen Haselhorst told CBS4.

Meyer and other friends say they are dismayed that Meyer's roommate, Melissa Miller, has been silent. Police have said they wanted to speak with Miller and now confirm that she has retained an attorney and will not talk to authorities. Friends say Miller won't answer the phone or return calls.

"I think that's awfully strange. You would think it would be the complete opposite," said her brother Mark Meyer, who is planning to come to Colorado soon to help with the search effort.

"I think Melissa has answers. And I just wish she would come forward and give us some of those answers," Haselhorst said.

Friends and family members say Meyer never made any enemies.

"I can't even believe it. She's the nicest person there is. She is unbelievable," Mark Meyer said.

Over the weekend friends walked around Meyer's Wheat Ridge neighborhood and talked about the mystery with neighors. They also handed out flyers with her picture on them. Another similar effort is planned next Saturday.

"There are a lot of people that care a lot about Annie. You couldn't help but care a lot about Annie. She had a heart of gold," Haselhorst said.

Police say tips from the public are critical in a case like this.

"We just want to find Annie. We all love her, and we want her back," said Sarah Hultgren, another friend of Meyer.

Crimestoppers and US Bank together are offering a reward of $10,000 for information that leads to the location of Meyers.

Meyer is described as 5-foot-7, 130 pounds with blue eyes and brown/grey hair.

Both of Meyer's vehicles are also missing. They are described as a 2009 silver Toyota Rav4 with the Colorado license plate 975-YUH and a 1995 silver Toyota pickup with the Colorado license plate 688-DJH.
