Glendale Police Investigate Body Found On Banks Of Cherry Creek

GLENDALE, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Glendale worked to solve the mystery of a man's body found on the banks of Cherry Creek Friday afternoon.

The man's body was found by a passerby just after 4 p.m. Friday. Police and firefighters responded and confirmed there was a body.

"We have an active investigation going on at this time. I don't know his age. I don't know his race," said Glendale Police Cpt. Michael Gross.

Gross said there was a weapon found near the body but would not confirm if that weapon was a firearm.

"There is a weapon at the scene but it is unknown if that weapon is the cause of death," said Gross.

"Any time you have a death case like this you have to assume the worst and conduct an investigation accordingly. We'll be here into the night doing what we can to solve this to find out what happened," said Gross.

The bike path that follows the creek was blocked off for two blocks during the investigation.
