DENVER (AP) – Farm-fresh eggs are getting a look from Colorado lawmakers, who are considering loosening requirements for selling whole eggs.

A bill under consideration in a House committee Thursday would allow egg producers to sell up to 250 dozen whole eggs per month without a dealer’s license.

The egg bill is a revision for a measure approved last year to allow home cooks to sell up to $5,000 a year of certain foods without commercial production requirements.

Currently egg producers have to acquire a Small Egg Producer/Dealer license to sell eggs at farmer’s markets. There are no licensing requirements for selling eggs directly from a farm or property.
