Another Dog Attacked By Mountain Lion In The Foothills

KITTREDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - There has been another mountain lion attack in the foothills. This time the victim was a 70-pound Labrador attacked in the backyard of a home in Kittredge off Highway 285.

The dog has received medical care, including several stitches and is expected to recover. Its owner fired a gun to scare the cat away.

On Saturday CBS4 reported about a dog named Lucy that was attacked a few days ago in Evergreen.

Animal experts warn pet owners in the foothills to keep a close eye on their animals after there have been at least eight attacks this year.

"When you're letting them outside during those hours walk them leashed and keep a close eye on them," Luke McChesney with the Evergreen Animal Hospital said.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife does not plan on taking any action other than alerting the public of the dangers. The agency says mountain lions are extremely unlikely to attack people -- children or adults.
