New American citizens take the oath at the Denver Public Library on Tuesday (credit: CBS)
DENVER (CBS4) – Fifty people from 31 countries became citizens of the United States of America when they took their oaths at the main branch of the Denver Public Library Tuesday.
Among those taking the oath was Udoh Ndifrek.
“I’m so excited about it,” Ndifrek said. “It’s a big day. I’m looking forward to having everything about today … the fact that I can have all the benefits that Americans are having.
“It’s been a long wait but I’ve been excited, I’ve come to the end of the road.”
Organizers say the library is an appropriate place for the ceremony because libraries play a key role in democracy by offering the opportunity to learn to all citizens.
