COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – A Colorado Springs police officer crashed his cruiser into a business on Saturday.

The crash happened at The Grow Store located at Colorado and 7th.

Employees say they were told the officer might have fallen asleep at the wheel, but police have not confirmed that information.

Nobody was hurt.

“If someone would have been there it could have been way worse, and if the soil wouldn’t have been there, I think he’d of ran straight through the store, because that soil weighs about 2,000 pounds and it’s soft, so I think it cushioned it. So I’m glad that was there,” an employee said.

Damage is expected to run in the thousands.

It’s not clear if the officer will be cited.
