Aurora Police Release ID Of Robbery Suspect Shot By Officer

AURORA, Colo. (AP/CBS4) — Police have released the identity of a man who was shot by police after an alleged robbery of a gas station.

Sgt. Cassidee Carlson with Aurora police said Herman Leon Hallman II, 27, has been released from the hospital and is now in police custody.

Carlson said in a news release the suspect robbed the Bradley gas station on North Havana Street at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Minutes later, he was spotted by police and refused to obey the officer's orders.

Carlson says shots were fired, and the suspect was struck. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

"About mid-block in the 700 block of Ironton, the suspect runs into a backyard; witnesses hear the officer giving commands," Carlson told CBS4. "Shot were fired by the officer striking the suspect."

The officer was not injured.
