LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – Lakewood police have arrested a suspect in an armed robbery of a store on Saturday.
Police said at about 1 p.m. Adam James Wainwright, 35, allegedly entered the Supplement Giant store located at 98 Wadsworth Boulevard and appeared to shop for some items. He then took out a gun and demanded money from the clerk.
“After getting an amount of money, he made the clerk go into a back room of the store,” police said in a statement.
The suspect then fled.
According to police, an officer located a man who matched the suspect’s description but was wearing different clothes than the suspect had on during the robbery. Officers contacted the man and found evidence tying him to the crime.
“Subsequent investigation revealed that after robbing the Supplement Giant the suspect went into a nearby clothing store, bought a change of clothes, and left the store,” police said.
Wainwright is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery and second degree kidnapping. He also had a warrant for his arrest for a theft case out of California.
