DENVER (CBS4) – A woman accused of bringing a gun to a Denver middle school and menacing several students has been formally charged.
Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney’s office said Monica Avila, 34, was charged with four counts of menacing and one count of possession of a weapon on school grounds.
“The charges allege that Avila confronted several students in the parking lot of a Denver middle school last week and pulled out a handgun during the confrontation,” Kimbrough said in a statement. “She was arrested nearby a short time later.”
Avila is being held on a $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday to be advised of the charges.
