DENVER (CBS4) – Two joggers were taken to the hospital after trying to rescue a dog from icy waters at City Park Sunday morning.
The joggers saw the dog struggling and rushed in to help but ran into trouble themselves after one person fell into the water. The joggers were able to make it to an island.
Firefighters rescued both the joggers from the island. They’re expected to okay.
The effort to save the dog was unsuccessful and it died. A firefighter retrieved the dog from under the ice and wrapped it in a towel. The owner was said to be distraught.
