WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) – A community is keeping its promise to never forget a young murder victim as Westminster renamed a park for Jessica Ridgeway.
The 10-year-old was on her way to the park to meet friends when she was abducted and murdered.
The sign renaming Chelsea Park “Jessica Ridgeway Memorial Park” went up Monday morning. There wasn’t a ceremony on Monday, but the company that made the sign said they were glad the city of Westminster asked them to do it.
“She gave us the opportunity, or asked the question if we would help her do the sign,” David Roberts with Majestic Metal said. “Of course we felt immediately it was important to help provide the sign for such a memorial deal, for sure.”
The sign is just the first of changes to take place at the park. Other improvements and events are scheduled to happen next year.
