Court-Martial Begins In Death Of Fort Carson Soldier
FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) — A court-martial is scheduled to get under way in the death of Army Spc. Brandy Fonteneaux of Houston, who was found dead in her room at Fort Carson in January.
Sgt. Vincinte Jackson goes on trial Monday on charges of murder and premeditated murder in Fonteneaux's death. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
His attorneys have declined to comment.
Fonteneaux's family says she knew Jackson but they weren't close. Army officials haven't publicly discussed a motive.
Jackson is an Army combat engineer from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. He has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and received the Purple Heart.
