COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – Colorado Springs police say they shot a man in a stolen vehicle who crashed into a police car while trying to escape.

Police say the chase began early Tuesday when police tried to stop a car that had been reported stolen. Police say the driver took off and the chase ended a short time later when he collided with the police car.

The man took off on foot and he was shot by the officer.

The man has been taken to a hospital, where his condition was not available.
