JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Jefferson County Deputies shot and killed a man Saturday night after he pulled a gun on them.

Deputies were called to the King Soopers store at 9800 W. Belleview Ave. at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, they were informed of a man who was wandering around inside the store talking to himself. The man also had a hand gun visible in his back pants pocket.

Deputies did not approach the man while he was inside the store, due to the safety of store customers and employees.

Several deputies waited outside the store entrance while one deputy watched the man from inside the store.

When the man walked out, deputies asked to speak to him. He responded by pulling the gun from his pocket.

A series of shots were fired between the gunman and deputies. The gunman was shot at least once by deputies.

He was rushed to Saint Anthony's Hospital where he died a short time later.

A second gun was found inside the gunman's jacket.

No customers, employees or deputies were injured during the shooting.

The store remained closed overnight during the investigation, but has since reopened.

The gunman's identity has not been released. Deputies do confirm he was born in 1972.
