DENVER (CBS4) – A local Girl Scout is helping animals and is on her way to achieving a special award.
Courtney Coleman spent the past several weeks collecting donations for homeless pets. On Sunday she delivered more than 300 pounds of food, along with animal beds, leashes and toys to the MaxFund animal shelter in Denver.
The project will help Coleman earn her silver award, the second highest award a Girl Scout can earn.
Coleman says she loves animals and wanted to give them a better life.
She also had to complete 50 hours of community service to earn her silver award.
Some of the gift baskets she donated will be auctioned off to raise money for the shelter.
