Denver Art Museum Extends Hours For ‘Van Gogh’ Exhibit
DENVER (CBS4) – The Vincent Van Gogh exhibit is a world exclusive in Denver, and the Denver Art Museum has decided to expand its hours so more visitors can see it.
The exhibit features 70 works by Van Gogh and also 20 other paintings by others who influenced him, and museum officials say it has been a high-demand show so far.
“We’re trying to downplay the biographical issues of his mental disease, of his excitability, but instead we’re really focusing on helping people learn how to look. This is intelligent looking. This is going through the very segments of his career, to be enriched and finally say, ‘Oh, I understand,'” DAM Curator Timothy Standring told CBS4 last month.
The museum is encouraging everyone who wants to see the exhibit to purchase tickets in advance. The expanded hours will be in effect during Thanksgiving weekend, across the December holiday stretch (from Dec. 15 through Jan. 6) and during the final weekend of the exhibition.

Notes About the Exhibition
The following information is provided by the Denver Art Museum:
Becoming Van Gogh is an in-depth exploration of Vincent van Gogh’s unconventional path to becoming one of the world’s most recognizable artists. The exhibition examines critical steps in the evolution of the largely self-taught artist through more than 70 paintings and drawings by Van Gogh, along with works from artists who inspired him. The DAM is the only venue for the exhibition which brings together loans from more than 60 public and private collections through Europe and North America to tell the story of a number of key formative periods throughout the artist’s career. No other exhibition has focused so intensely on Van Gogh’s personal growth and progression as he developed his own personal style.
