Windsor Middle School Principal Arrested, Put On Administrative Leave

WINDSOR, Colo. (CBS4) - Windsor police have arrested a middle school principal and the school has put him on administrative leave.

Windsor Middle School Principal Doug Englert, 56, faces charges of domestic violence at his home.

Authorities said it had nothing to do with the school.

Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Eric Johnson has been named as interim principal.

"While this sudden and unexpected change of leadership is sure to raise many emotions, questions or possible concerns for our entire school and the community which it serves, I want to assure you that our staff, district leadership and myself are resolved to maintaining the highest standards of educational excellence for which this district, and Windsor Middles School specifically, have become known," Johnson posted on the school's website on Monday.

Englert also faces a child abuse charge because a child was present during the alleged incident. The child wasn't harmed.
