DENVER (AP) – Nearly one-tenth of Colorado’s active registered voters have already cast ballots for the November elections.
Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler said Wednesday that 325,810 people have voted. Early voting started Monday in Colorado, and mail ballots were sent out Oct. 15.
There are about 3.6 million active registered voters in the state. That means the people who have voted so far make up about 8.9 percent of the state’s electorate.
Republicans slightly outnumber Democrats in voting so far. Republicans have cast 126,539 ballots, while Democrats have cast 120,965. Unaffiliated voters have cast 75,030 ballots.
Colorado is a battleground state being heavily courted by presidential candidates.
