Theater Shooting Suspect Seeks Delay Of Hearing

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - Lawyers for the man charged in the Colorado theater shootings are asking for more time before the next hearing in the case.

James Holmes' lawyers say in court documents filed Tuesday that they are busy reading more than 18,000 pages of information in the case while also preparing arguments against the media's request to release some information that is redacted in court documents.

They are asking that an Oct. 25 hearing be continued to a later date. A judge had scheduled the hearing to consider items including a request to delay Holmes' preliminary hearing, at which the judge would decide if Holmes should stand trial.

Holmes is charged with first-degree murder and other crimes in the July 20 shootings in Aurora that killed 12 people and wounded at least 58.
