10-Year-Old Westminster Girl Missing

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Westminster searched for a 10-year-old girl on Friday evening after she went missing while walking to school.

Jessica Ridgeway was last seen at about 8:30 a.m. Friday.

An Amber Alert was issued by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation at 9:20 p.m. Friday.

Police said Jessica walked to a nearby park every morning to meet a friend. Then the two of them would walk to school together. Friday morning, Jessica didn't show up to meet her friend.

The school called Jessica's mother at about 10 a.m. on Friday to inform her that she did not arrive at school.

Jessica's mother works the overnight shift and did not receive the message from the school until about 4 p.m. She immediately called police.

Jessica is described as 4-foot-10, 80 pounds with shoulder-length blonde hair, blue eyes. Jessica was wearing blue jeans with a black puffy jacket with a pink lining, purple eyeglasses and black boots with pom-poms.

Officers have been searching for Jessica since early evening in the area of 108th and Moore Street.

The circumstances of her disappearance are unknown.
