Suspect In Deadly South Broadway Hit & Run In Court
DENVER (CBS4) - It might be case closed in a deadly hit-and-run in Denver as court documents indicate the suspected driver has confessed to police.
Dennis Esquibel was in court Friday. Documents show he admitted driving the car that ran into Laura McDermott on South Broadway last Sunday.
Police say Esquibel told them he drove off and then ditched the car. His sister says the entire incident has been tough on everyone.
"My condolences are for the family too, but we are in mourning too, because we are losing someone too unless we get him help," sister Dee Dee Esquibel said.
Esquibel is being held on a $100,000 bond. Prosecutors say charges will be filed early next week and will at least include leaving the scene of a deadly accident.
