Prison Staffer Dies In Southeastern Colorado Prison
CROWLEY, Colo. (CBS4) - One staffer is dead and another was seriously injured after a disturbance at a Colorado prison Monday morning.
It happened at the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility in Crowley while the two female staffers were preparing breakfast.
The other woman was seriously injured.
The medium security prison houses about 1,000 men.
This same prison was the site of one of the state's most infamous prison escapes. In 1989 a helicopter landed in the yard and lifted two inmates away to freedom.
The prisoners were quickly captured when they switched to a rental van and got into a gun battle with police in Nebraska.
