DENVER (AP) – The Colorado Department of Transportation has a new smartphone application to help drivers better navigate Interstate 70 between Denver and Vail.
The app, called CDOT Mobile – The Official App, was developed as part of a public-private partnership with The Hub Companies LLC. Costs will be covered by selling ads and sponsorships.
The app gives information including speeds and travel times on the highway; road conditions; road closures and traffic-related incidents; road work; and feeds from CDOT’s closed-circuit television cameras. CDOT says the app also will send alerts to encourage drivers to avoid peak travel times and to take advantage of special deals from advertisers instead of sitting in traffic.
The next phase of the app will focus on the I-25 corridor and should be ready this winter.
