CBS4′s Lane Lyon talks with Sheri Landrum (credit: CBS)
DENVER (CBS4) – A bold Park Hill community has refused to let Holly Square Shopping Center fall to area gangs.
A dedicated group of volunteers and generous donors have worked tirelessly to build a safe place for area youth at Holly Square, and in recent weeks the area has gotten a whole new look.
Holly Square is also a place to remember Officer Celena Hollis, who was killed when she was caught in the crossfire of a gang shooting during Jazz in the Park in City Park.
Sheri Landrum spoke at the vigil held after Hollis was killed this summer. She has her own story — her 21-year-old son was murdered after a concert on East Colfax in 2004. She says to stop being afraid and get involved.
