DENVER (CBS4) – Police in Denver are investigating a shooting involving officers that took place early Tuesday morning.
Police said they responded to a report of a suicidal man with a gun and shots fired inside a home in the 3400 block of West Colfax Avenue at about 12:30 a.m.
When police arrived on the scene they made contact with the man inside but say the situation escalated and the suspect was shot in the arm and possibly through to his chest.
“This is definitely an officer-involved shooting. How many officers were involved will be determined through the investigation,” Detective John White with Denver police said. “The Office of the Independent Monitor will be involved in this as well as our Internal Affairs Bureau. It’s still very fresh. There’s still lots of investigation that needs to take place here to determine exactly what those details are.”
The man was taken to the hospital and was expected to survive. His name hasn’t been released.
No officers were hurt, and no further information has been released so far.
