CSU’s McElwain Wants Rams/Buffs To Be A ‘Relevant’ Rivalry

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) – Alabama and Auburn — that’s a “relevant rivalry.” Colorado State University’s new football coach Jim McElwain coached in that game, so he should know.

Now that McElwain is coaching the Rams he’d like to bring some relevance back to the University of Colorado and CSU rivalry.

“I think the excitement of the game, the excitement of the rivalry; that’s going to happen, but that’s natural. The thing you don’t want to have happen is that they go out there and start hyperventilating, where it just becomes bigger than it is,” McElwain said. “I’m really looking forward to the long haul with making this a relevant rivalry.”

The Rams and Buffs kick off the season this Saturday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High for the Rocky Mountain Showdown.
