Greeley Man Sentenced 6 Years To Life For Rape

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4)- A Greeley man has been sentenced to six years to life in prison for his role in a 2008 rape.

Justin Mereles was sentenced on Friday to the Department of Corrections in connection with the rape of a teenage girl during a Greeley house party four years ago.

According to police and court records, Mireles, 22, forced himself on an intoxicated 17-year-old girl during a party on August 31, 2008.

Mireles was convicted June 29 on one count of sex assault/overcoming a victim's will and one count of sex assault on a victim who was incapable of appraising the nature of her conduct.

Mireles will spend a minimum of six years in prison. He could spend the rest of his natural life in prison.

Javier Esparza was previously convicted on identical sex assault charges in May for also raping the same victim during the party. Esparza, 22, will be sentenced September 13.

Both men were arrested in the spring of 2011.
