ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) – A man is dead after getting hit by a car while riding his bike.

The incident happened at about 10 p.m. at 80th and Wadsworth near a King Soopers grocery store.

The store manager told CBS4 the victim was one of his employees. Other workers said the man was on break when the accident happened.

Police said the driver in the collision stopped and cooperated with officers.

“It’s a good lesson as to why it’s important to use the traffic signals and the intersections and always be aware of what’s going on in the traffic around you,” Arvada police spokeswoman Jill McGranahan said.

The name of the man who was killed so far has not been released.
