DENVER (CBS4)- Most students in Denver won’t head back to class for a while but some teachers are getting a head start on the fall semester.
New teachers in the Denver Public School District were welcomed by the Montbello Drum Corps Friday morning. The greeting kicked off two weeks of intense training to get the teachers acclimated to the DPS system.
The superintendent said DPS is in better shape than some school districts across the state.
“We’re fortunate that we’re one of the few districts in the state that hasn’t had layoffs or furloughs of our teachers in part because we’re really growing. We are the fastest growing enrollment district in the state,” said Tom Boasberg.
Boasberg said the district is heading into the new year on the heels of increased test scores and continuing reforms.
