Craig Hospital Patients Enjoy Water On 'Hobie Day'

DENVER (CBS4) - It was an inspiring day on the water Friday for dozens of patients from Craig Hospital.

It marked the 33rd year the hospital has hosted "Hobie Day" at Cherry Creek Reservoir. Fifty patients dealing with paralysis or brain injury all got a chance to go sailing on a catamaran.

"An experience like this lets them know that they can be reintroduced to all kinds of activities and the things they did prior to their injury or illness and it's just a great day all around," Tom Carr with Craig Hospital said.

Therapists say all the men and women can take what they learned as proof they can learn new skills despite their handicaps.
