Suncor Energy Told To Step Up Toxic Spill Cleanup
DENVER (AP) -- Colorado health officials are ordering Suncor Energy to step up efforts to clean up contaminated groundwater moving off its refinery in Commerce City.
The health department says current efforts are not working and a contaminated groundwater plume has changed direction, contaminating areas that previously had been clean.
Suncor has been working since November to control an underground plume of groundwater that has been leaking benzene into two waterways.
