PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) – A motorcyclist has been killed while trying to flee Colorado State Patrol troopers near Pueblo.
Spokesman Nate Reid says the chase began Tuesday morning when a patrol plane reported a speeding motorcycle on Interstate 25.
Reid says the motorcyclist failed to yield to troopers on the ground on northbound I-25. He then crossed into southbound lanes and drove south on the interstate, exited and wove through several side streets in Pueblo West before hitting a dump truck.
The State Patrol says the motorcycle driver, identified as 31-year-old Robert Frye of Pueblo West, died at the scene of his injuries. The dump truck driver wasn’t hurt.
The motorcycle had been reported stolen on Sunday.
