Louisiana Teen Accused In Fatal Crash Appears In Colorado Court
HUGO, Colo. (AP) - A Louisiana teen accused of driving a tractor-trailer that killed two women who were changing a flat tire along Interstate 70 in eastern Colorado has appeared in court.
The 16-year-old boy and his father appeared in a Lincoln County courtroom Monday. The boy faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and careless driving causing death. His father faces a charge of false reporting, after authorities say he falsely said he was driving the truck at the time of the accident.
Troopers say it was the boy who was behind the wheel when the truck struck and killed Shun Jones and Amanda Omo-Lyamu of Texas on Saturday.
Investigators are trying to determine whether the teen was required to have a commercial driver's license.
