DENVER (CBS4) – Thousands of people took part in the 13th annual “Donor Dash” at Washington Park on Sunday.
Balloons were released to celebrate the lives of organ and tissue donors and recipients. The 5K walk also honors people who are waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
After the walk one mother daughter team said they’ve never felt better.
“I’m alive and well and everybody should think about sharing a little part that they don’t need,” kidney recipient Dee Thompson said.
Nearly 70 percent of Coloradans are registered to be organ, eye and tissue donors.
It’s free and easy to sign up. Just visit the Donor Alliance website.
