Denver Private Parking Lot Operator Fined $4,600
DENVER (AP) - Denver officials say a man whose business pleaded guilty to operating private parking lots without a license has been fined a total of $4,600.
City officials started investigating Mike Sanchez after receiving complaints last year of cars being illegally towed from pay parking lots.
Following an investigation, Stop-&-Park LLC was issued 18 citations for unlicensed operations of parking lots. The city Department of Excise and Licenses says Sanchez pleaded guilty on behalf of the business to nine of those counts.
The city says it no longer automatically renews parking lot licenses and is checking on complaints against applicants seeking renewal. It also is working with the Colorado Better Business Bureau.
