Recycle Old Paint And/Or Save Big On New Paint

DENVER (CBS4) - There's now a business that lets people recycle old paint or save a bundle on new paint.

4 On Your Side Money Saver Suzanne McCarroll found out how it works.

"There's about 65 million gallons of paint that gets thrown into the landfill every year, which in essence is unusable," Sarah Wells with Paint Genius said.

Paint Genius is in the business of recycling paint and saving customers money.

"A gallon of recycled paint with us for a custom matched color is $12 a gallon," Wells said. "That's about half of what you would pay at a conventional retailer."

Bring in paint leftovers and they create a new palette.

"Our paints are thick, luscious, and have excellent coverage," Justin Carter with Paint Genius said.

Paint Genius also has free paint for those who just need a touch-up job.

Leanne Palmisano wanted to spruce up her garage without spending a lot of money.

"I believe I saved 30 to 40 percent on the whole project," Palmisano said.

Because she hired painters from Paint Genius, the recycled paint was free.

Paint Genius is located on the 5200 block of East Colfax between Forest and Glencoe.
