Homeless Camping Ban Gets Preliminary Approval
DENVER (CBS4) - In a preliminary vote, the Denver City Council approved a ban on overnight camping in the city.
Public comment went well into the night, as board members listened to supporters and opponents.
Those against the proposal say it would make homelessness a crime, and say there aren't enough shelters to handle everyone on the street.
Many business owners downtown talked about safety concerns.
A final decision is expected by May 14.
If approved, the ban would go into effect at the end of May.
