BERTHOUD, Colo. (CBS4) – There’s been a strange twist in the allegations of a racial attack in Berthoud.

Earlier this month, a black foreign exchange student from Germany told police she was assaulted by four males in Berthoud’s Bein Park.

There was even a suspect description relesaed to find one of the attackers.

After investigating, police now say the alleged crime happened several years ago and actually took place overseas, not in Berthoud.

The district attorney’s office will now decide what happens next.
