3 Teens Killed By Suspected Drunk Driver After Church Event In Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. (CBS4) - Three families in the town of Alamosa are planning for memorials for young victims of a deadly accident. They will mourn the losses of three girls hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver.

The crash happened Saturday night in Pueblo. Police say the girls were in a car turning left at an intersection when the driver of a pickup truck crashed into them.

The victims have been identified as 18-year old Anisa Montoya, 14-year-old Selena Mascarenas, and 13-year-old Serina Sena. They were heading back to Alamosa after attending a a church event in Pueblo.

A witness says the pickup was speeding and ran a red light. One man ran up and tried to help.

"It was a difficult moment for me to know that I had some training to possibly help her out, but I wasn't sure I could get her out anyway. She looked like she was possibly trapped in there," witness Robert Pratt said. "How do you even apply CPR at that point."

People shaken by the tragedy have placed a makeshift memorial at the scene of the crash.

Police arrested the driver of the pickup. He's been identified as Gilbert Sanchez, 36, of Pueblo. He's facing charges of DUI and vehicular homicide.
