DENVER (AP) — Denmark-based Vestas Wind Systems has appointed Dag Gunnar Andresen as chief financial officer.
In a Friday statement, Andresen said he wanted to get the maker of wind turbines back on the earnings track. Andresen has worked with one of Sweden’s largest energy companies, Vattenfall AB.
Former CFO Henrik Noerremark resigned in February. And Vestas chairman Bent Erik Carlsen was replaced by Bert Nordberg after the company said last year’s profits were below target.
Vestas announced in January it was laying off more than 2,300 people worldwide and that 1,600 U.S. jobs are at risk because Congress has yet to extend tax breaks for renewable energy.
The company has invested more than $1 billion in four facilities in Colorado. Its U.S. operations are headquartered in Portland, Ore.
