FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Fort Collins charged three Colorado State University football players with disorderly conduct stemming from an incident earlier this month.
The charges were filed once detectives completed their investigation regarding a physical disturbance that occurred April 6.
At about 11:45 p.m. that night near the intersection of Shields Street and LaPorte Avenue, ten CSU students and one non-student became involved in a fight.
Six of those students were CSU football players but only three players involved were charged.
Colton Scott Paulhus, 20, Michael Obinna Orakpo, 21, Nordly Capi, 19, were all charged with disorderly conduct. They were also suspended from the football team during an investigation by CSU.
Police said the fight began after words were exchanged by individuals from both groups. Two of the students received serious injuries during the altercation.
One of the alleged victims, Donald Gocha, 20, was also charged. Police believe Gocha’s friends were trying to break up the fight and protect him who was knocked unconscious at some point. Gocha was seriously injured in the fight.
